On March 30th, I will be attending my first con as an exhibitor since 2008. It’s a one day event in Indianapolis called the INDYpendent Self-Published Comics Show. I’m primarily doing this show to make up for not exhibiting at the NWI Comic-Con last month, which I really should’ve had a table at. Even without a table, I still sold five comics at that show, which made it a bigger success for me than my last con.
I will be mostly selling some art prints at the show but also whatever Grimstone comic stock I have left. I’d really like to order some more from my printer to take to the show (I only have one copy of issue 2), but funds are tight, and there were other things I needed to order too. So now would be a really good time if anyone wants to order a commission from me (or suggest to a friend that they order one) or purchase some digital comics from the Grimstone store.
In any case, I will be selling a dozen different art prints, drawing sketches, taking commission orders, and giving out promo post cards for Grimstone with a link to a free digital comic download. I’ll probably have some leftovers with me for C2E2, but I won’t actually be exhibiting there, just roaming the show floor all weekend.
So if you are going to be in the area that weekend or know someone who will, then (tell them to) stop on by and check out the show. March 30th at the Radisson Hotel by the Indianapolis Airport.
Quite a few things have been happening over the past week, the last few days especially have been very busy for me. I have a number of things to talk about, so let’s get right to it.
Grimstone has moved to Tumblr. If you’re reading this post right now, then you’ve found the new site. The address is still grimstone.net (please leave the www. off for now, as of this writing it’s still not working right). The entire comic archive is here and new comics will be appearing in the near future. The comics will be in the classic four panel strip style, but new comics will appear in a vertical format in the tumblr dashboard. You don’t need a Tumblr account to read the comic, the website works like any other, but if you are a Tumblr member be sure to follow grimstone-comics so you don’t miss an update. I’m hoping to have a daily schedule, possibly MWF to start.
Grimstone is also appearing on Tapastic now. If you’ve never heard of the site, give it a look. It’s an interesting take on webcomics. I will be re-running the entire series over there a comic a day until the whole thing is up. New comics will be appear there at some point as well. The plan is to eventually have both sites in sync and use Tapastic to help grow my audience. You can check out Grimstone’s page here.
Now for the really cool news. Grimstone #1, the first issue of the old comic book series (part one of Dawn of the Morningstar) goes on sale today at Comixology through their Submit program. I’m pretty excited about this as I hope it will bring in some new readers. If you want to show your support for Grimstone and encourage me to get more comics made asap, you can buy it here. That link should be working by the time this is posted. It’s only 99¢ and it’ll help me more if you buy thru their website instead of their app. I’ll be uploading issue 2 and 3 soon, but it’ll be a while before they go on sale (issue 1 took like 6 months.) If you don’t want to wait, they can also be purchased as PDF files by clicking on the Store link at the bottom of the site.
That’s it for now. I’ll post more news as warranted. Now that all this stuff is done, I can focus on making comics for a while.
